What's the secret to success? How will you stand up and stand out from the noise and competition? How will you Make Your Message Matter in 2024? There are So. Many. Options. In just the past few days I've seen the "answers to my visibility prayers" as low at $7 and as high as $5,000. That bugs me. And what bugs me more are the promises of the keyboard warriors who claim they are in this extraordinary 'club' of successful women, making 6- and 7-figure incomes, who seemingly snap their fingers and money lands in their lap. How many times have you seen six and seven-figure promises like these?
You download their freebie, end up in a sales funnel and then have to go back and unsubscribe after receiving a half-dozen emails regurgitating the same promise. Speaking of downloads: I'll admit it. I'm a download junkie. If I see a free eBook on "How to...", or "Top X Ways to..." I'll grab it. It's sort of become a game. I download the free item, then kick myself because I knew the moment I started typing my email address – I was going to be disappointed. There was a promise of "Instant Success Guaranteed" or a "Secret Formula" that would be nothing more than a 12-page document (Which could’ve been 3 pages but the creator s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d everything to make it appear bigger than it is.) that gave little insight and a lot of crap. I’ve fallen for the false sense of urgency and fear tactics. Genuine mentors and coaches respect the decision-making process, providing information and support without pressuring individuals to act hastily. Be cautious of anyone who insists that immediate action is the only path to success. Sure, you can have a limited-time offer – but telling a solopreneur who is desperate to be successful that it’s NOW OR NEVERRRRRR isn’t the way to go. Guaranteeing instant success is a bold claim. Those claiming their $7 download will turn any struggling solopreneur into a six or seven-figure success overnight is again, crap. Building a sustainable business takes time, effort, and a well-thought-out strategy. Remember that your dreams and ambitions are precious, deserving of genuine support and guidance. If you've ever felt the sting of disappointment or found yourself entangled in the web of empty promises, I'm here for you. I invite you to share your stories with me. Let's turn those tales of frustration into lessons of resilience. Your journey matters, and together, we can nurture an environment where authenticity and real growth thrive. Reach out, let's chat, and let's build a community of solopreneurs supporting each other on the path to genuine success.
In this journey I’m here to Make Your Message Matter. Because it does. And so do you. xo Kel

As we embrace the dawn of 2024, I find myself drawn to the word "EVOLVE" as my guiding force for the year. This choice aligns with the core values of the Brave Women Project, specifically, the 5 Es or 5 Pillars we follow: Educate, Empower, Encourage, Engage, and Evolve. BWP is close to my heart and has allowed me to be a part of an incredible group of women who develop opportunities for women to move into brave action and to develop in four core areas: Relationships, Professional, Impact, and Wellness. Let me share with you why "EVOLVE" encapsulates my aspirations and intentions for the year ahead. 1. Taking my agency from hourly rates to value-based programs: In 2024, I am committed to a paradigm shift in my approach to work. I aspire to move beyond the constraints of hourly rates and transition towards value-based programs. This evolution signifies not only a shift in how I perceive my worth but also how I contribute to the success and growth of those I work with. 2. Getting more involved in partnerships with my village: I recognize the strength of collaboration and community. This year, I am eager to forge stronger partnerships with the incredible individuals who make up my village of supporters. By aligning with businesses that complement mine, we can create synergies that amplify our collective impact and create a more supportive and interconnected network. I’ve joined an organization that fosters support and engagement between solopreneurs and I’m excited to be a part of a dynamic group of business-minded individuals. 3. Becoming a better speaker and booking more speaking gigs:
Communication is a powerful tool, and I am dedicated to honing my skills as a speaker. By evolving into a more articulate and impactful communicator, I aim to share my experiences, insights, and knowledge on a broader stage. Booking more speaking engagements will allow me to connect with diverse audiences, fostering meaningful conversations and inspiring positive change. 4. Writing a book: The written word holds a unique ability to transcend boundaries and leave a lasting impact. In 2024, I am excited to embark on the journey of writing a book. This endeavor is something I’ve wanted to do since I published Twenty Won in 2021 – and this is the year I’m doing it! I’ll be working with Cori Wamsley of Aurora Corialis Publishing beginning in January. 5. Participating in more mentorship opportunities: I believe in the transformative power of mentorship, both as a mentor and a mentee. This year, I am committed to participating in more mentorship opportunities, cultivating meaningful connections, and contributing to the growth and development of those who seek guidance and support. As I embrace the spirit of "EVOLVE" in 2024, I invite you to join me on this journey of growth, collaboration, and empowerment. Together, let's unlock the untapped potential within ourselves and create a ripple effect of positive change in our communities and beyond. I urge you to book a 30-minute chat with me. I want to talk to YOU about everything evolutionary, collaborating, speaking, writing, and mentoring. Here’s my calendar link – and if nothing fits your schedule, email me and we will work it out. Here's to a year of evolution and empowerment... for everyone! xo Kel Hey there, fellow go-getters! Today, let's chat about something near and dear to my heart – building a village around your solopreneurial or entrepreneurial journey. Because, let's face it, even the most independent souls need a little support sometimes, right? Picture this: You, the solopreneur, armed with dreams and a laptop, ready to conquer the world. But hold up – going at it alone? Nah, not in my world. I’m all about community, connection, and creating a village that's got your back. Here are 5 tips, with proof, that have worked for me when putting together my "A-Team": 1. Identify Your Village: Start by identifying your people – those ride-or-die pals who cheer you on when you're winning and hand you chocolate and wine when things get tough. It could be your childhood BFF, your college roomie, or even that neighbor who's always up for a chat over the fence. How about the people you've met since starting your business? Maybe they're in the same place as you and they need a village, too? Your village is your foundation, your sounding board, and the ones who'll remind you that you're a rockstar even on the gloomiest days. PROOF: I have a half-dozen “A Team” members who I KNOW if I simply pick up the phone, they are ready to help me. Friends who truly hand me that wine and chocolate when I'm down. I do the same for them. Trust me...find your six. It's quality over quantity. 2. Tap into Online Communities: In this digital age, your village isn't limited to the folks next door. Jump into online communities – whether it's a Facebook group, a Twitter chat, or an Insta community. Connect with like-minded souls who understand the hustle. Share your wins, your struggles, and pick up tips from those who've been there, done that. Trust me, the internet is a goldmine for kindred spirits. PROOF: I found my bookkeeper in a Facebook group. We’ve been working together since 2020 and she’s one of my most trusted sources! 3. Networking, Minus the Awkwardness: Networking, I know, it sounds all fancy and formal. But fear not – we're keeping it casual. Attend local meetups, join co-working spaces, or simply strike up a conversation with that cool barista who knows your coffee order by heart. You'll be amazed at how many potential allies are just a smile and a "Hey, let's grab a coffee and chat business" away. PROOF: If you’re local to Pittsburgh and need a wing-woman, I’m your girl! I estimate I've been to over 200 networking events in the past decade. 4. Ask for Help (Seriously, It's Okay!): Here's a little secret – people love feeling needed. So don't be shy to ask for help when you need it. Whether it's brainstorming ideas, proofreading your website copy, or just a shoulder to vent on – your village is there for you. And trust me, they'll appreciate being part of your journey.
PROOF: I feel like a million dollars when my friends ask me for help or for my opinion. Never be afraid to ask your A-Team! 5. Support Each Other's Dreams: A thriving village is a two-way street. It's not just about you and your dreams; it's about cheering on others too. When you invest in your village, you're creating a support system that's as strong as steel. Attend their events, promote their projects, and celebrate their victories. In return, you'll find them right by your side when it's your time to shine. PROOF: If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times – COLLABORATION OVER COMPETITION! Building a village around your solopreneurial journey isn't just about business – it's about creating a tapestry of relationships that enrich your life. So, go ahead, DO IT with big dreams and an even bigger support system. Your village awaits, ready to turn those dreams into reality. Let's do this together! [email protected] xo Kel Can you believe it's almost the end of the year? As we gear up for the fresh start that comes with a new year, I wanted to share some down-to-earth tips to help you kick off 2024 on a high note. It's not about selling you anything – it's about sharing some wisdom on how you can make your voice heard during all the noise. Let's dive in: 1. Tell Your Story, Your Way: In a world full of polished messages, there's something truly special about authenticity. Share your journey, your challenges, and your triumphs. People connect with real stories, and yours could be the one that resonates. 2. Connect with Your People: You know your village better than anyone. Take the time to understand who they are, what they care about, and how you can be a part of their world. When you genuinely connect with your audience, visibility follows. 3. Master the Art of Social Media: Social media is like the neighborhood block party – everyone's there! Find the platforms where your people hang out the most and show up consistently. Share helpful tips, engage with comments, and let your personality shine through. 4. Be a Helpful Neighbor: What do good neighbors do? They help each other out! Offer valuable insights, tips, and resources without expecting anything in return. Being genuinely helpful positions you as a go-to resource in your community. 5. Get Cozy with Collaborations: Just like borrowing a cup of sugar from your neighbor, collaborations can be mutually beneficial. Partner with others in your niche for joint projects, co-host events, or share each other's content. It's a win-win for visibility. It’s all about COLLABORATION OVER COMPETITION! 6. Spruce Up Your Curb Appeal (aka Your Website): Your online home should be warm and welcoming. Make sure your website is easy to navigate, tells your story effectively, and showcases what makes you unique. A well-presented online space is your digital front porch. 7. Start a Friendly Conversation: Join conversations in your industry. Attend virtual meetups, comment on blog posts, and participate in online forums. Engaging in meaningful conversations is a surefire way to get noticed. 8. Dress Up Your Messages with Visuals: Pictures speak a thousand words, right? Add a touch of personality to your messages with visuals. Whether it's graphics, videos, or even GIFs, make your content visually appealing. Canva can be your best friend! 9. Be Consistent, Not Perfect: In my playbook, consistency beats perfection. Show up regularly, be yourself, and embrace the journey. Over time, your commitment will shine through, and people will take notice. 10. Give Thanks and Share the Love: Just like leaving a sweet note for your neighbor, take the time to express gratitude. Thank your followers, celebrate their wins, and share the love within your community. A little appreciation goes a long way. Here's to a fabulous New Year filled with authentic connections, meaningful conversations, and a spotlight on your incredible journey! Wishing you all the best in 2024! Kelli |
